Leaving on a Jet Plane...

Southern Fashion Houses' [The new parent company to Judith March and Deja Vu] new CEO and one of my childhood best friend, Christy Smith, and I jetted down to Key West for a few days to check on the Key West Deja Vu store. It was a rainy departure, but once we drifted above the rain clouds, I saw the beauty of a rain storm from above.

One of my favorite things about traveling is getting to listen to music. I think I love music the most on trips because upon my arrival the songs I listen to link me back to the memories I've made. Here's a play list I made on 8tracks....follow the link to hear some of my favorite travel tunes and enjoy the beautiful pics from a bird's point of view!

A Sensational Summer

Whooo, where has summer gone? I suppose the saying, "time flies when you're having a good time" really is true!

Between finalizing the designs for Judith March's fall collection and revamping the displays for all FOUR (yes, four) of the Deja Vu stores, I've managed to find some time for proper summer activities.

Since Fox, my six-year-old son, is out of school he's been keeping me busy and fully entertained (as always), and pretty much feeding our household with all of the fish he has caught! It shows me how the apple, truly, doesn't fall far from the tree. Fishing is probably one of my favorite things to do and I am so thankful for the time me and Fox share doing it!

Every chance we get we head North to my hometown of Troy, AL, for some quality family time. The heart and soul of who I am is there, and I can't imagine growing up anywhere else. My parent's farm is like a little piece of heaven to me. The term 'backwoods,' is suitable, seeing as it is 20 miles away from any sort of civilization, but I wouldn't have it any other way. Sitting on the swing with my dad, watching the Alabama sun slowly set behind the pine-tree line, the hum of crickets and locusts drowning out the faint laughs of Fox, as he chases fire flies near the pond. This is my happy place.

Thankfully I have gotten to spend a lot of time there this summer, horse back riding, spending time with old friends and, surprisingly enough, being inspired to create and design for Judith March and Deja Vu!

I am so excited about the Fall/Game Day collection this year! Our Judy's Tanks and Tees are also going to be seeing some more new designs. I hope you stay tuned and up to date with all of our new items! I can't wait to share them with everyone soon!

We love Duck Dynasty!!

LOOK! Jessica Robertson, wife of Duck Dynasty star Jep Robertson, was seen wearing Judith March's   Montego-Navajo-Diamond-Chiffon-Maxi-with-Black-Ponte-Short-Underskirt dress...to be specific!

The family traveled to Hawaii to enjoy some quality family time on the season 2 finale. Jessica looked gorgeous and I can't wait to hopefully work with the women of Duck Dynasty in the future! I LOVE their style and adore their southern pride and charm!

If anyone has a contact to these lovely women, I welcome comments to this post!!

LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!!

Meg & Joel's Totally Righteous 80's Bash

This weekend we celebrated the soon-to-be-married Megan Crane, one of Judith March's fab-tastic designers! Her wedding is two weeks away, so as you can imagine, she is running around getting everything in order for the BIG day!

Meg & Joel!
We decided to throw her and her bodacious fiance, Joel, an 80's themed pool party, complete with teased hair, high-cut swim suits, tie-dye and, of course, a banging playlist of the best 80's music! Meg and Joel dressed up as everyones favorite couple, Zack Morris (complete with neon backwards hat and boom box) and Kelly Kapowski from Saved by the Bell

I figured the pool party would need some trained, professional life guards so me and Christopher dressed up as BayWatch life guards (like..duh). We kept everyone safe--don't worry! :P

Here are a few shots of the fun--everyone had such a fun time stepping back into one of America's favorite past times...sort of :)

Can't wait for April 20th when this lovely couple finally say "I do!" So excited for their Big Day!

Me and Christopher! We were the lifeguards for the pool party!

THE party people; Alexis, Kelsey, Megan and Susie--loved Susie's perfectly teased hair!

The delicious chocolate oreo delight cake and beautiful flowers my sweet employees gave me!
I was lucky to spend my birthday with two of my favorite men, hanging by the pool!

A Spring Time Dream

Like most southern-born-and-raised belles I've grown up reading Southern Living. Well....my mother always had them lying around, so for the first part of my life I just admired the beautiful pictures of gardens, various travel destinations around the South and, of course, the wonderful seasonal recipes!

I never could have dreamed of being featured in it; twice! The April 2013 run of the magazine features "Secrets to the South's New Riviera." It highlights the "most posh-pools, on-trend designers, and tasty eats" along the gulf coast of Florida and Alabama.

I was so humbled when they asked me to be apart of such a fun and exciting feature! It was a joy to work with the Southern Living team and my fellow Florida fashion designers, Nicole Rockhill and Caroline Smith, (they were both so sweet)!

The dress I am wearing in the picture is one of my favorite dresses from Judith March's 2013 Spring/Summer collection. The light-weight fabric is perfect for the South's notorious summer heat waves, but my favorite part of the design is the bow! The design is inspired by the simple class and sophistication of women like Jackie O' Kennedy and Audrey Hepburn, with a hint of Southern swank mixed in as well.

This Classic Linen Dress is available wholesale through Judith March! Shoppers can find a retailer near you by searching "Retail locations" on the Judith March website. Deja Vu is also carrying it and the entire Spring/Summer collection at our four locations (Fairhope, AL, Key West, FL, Seaside, FL and Panama City Beach, FL and our online store).

I am so blessed to have such wonderful customers, co-workers and support system. Judith March and Deja Vu wouldn't be what it is today with out all of you, so thank you so much!!

Fashion Designer by Day..Dugout Mom by Night

After a long day of analyzing business numbers, selecting fabrics and designs for Judith March's upcoming collections, I was excited to get out of the office and head to the ball park for Fox's first ever T-ball game.

Not only was it Fox's first time at T-ball, it was also my first time as Dugout Mom. I really didn't know what to expect, but as I arrived to the field I knew I was in for an entertaining evening. Imagine this. Sixteen four to five year old little boys on a baseball field. Some were rolling around in the grass, some were running around like wild Indians, some were trying to balance their gloves on their heads, and they were all excited to use their outside voices.

As game time approached their coaches rounded them up for their first real team huddle. They all put their tiny hands in and not so unanimously yelled "Go A's!" So began the beginning of Fox's baseball career and my career as Dugout Mom!

As dugout mom my job was fairly easy. Bring snacks acceptable to the boys (Gatorade and goldfish), line all the boys up ready for the batting line up, get them ready for batting (helmets, bat, encouragement--check, check and check) and help the coaches maintain order. All the boys on the team are so sweet and well behaved--so they made my job easy as pie!

After two innings of play the game was called. During the game all of our little baseball players got on base, hit the ball, ran to home plate, had a handful of goldfish and had a glorious time! Red faced and exhausted the boys made their way to their last team huddle for the day! All the parents watched, each one radiating with pride as they showered the boys with praise and encouragement. Each time one of their teammates or opponent touched the ball they cheered along with the fans of both teams!

The entire event only took about 45 minutes, which was enough time for me to learn how thankful I was for the blessing of getting to be dugout mom! I only hope Fox's baseball career continues so my dugout mom career can as well. :P
